Right-Wing Wins in Portugal

The center-right coalition won 38.6% of the vote, while the socialist opposition gained 32.4%. This means that the center-right coalition wins the elections, but have lost control of an absolute majority in the Parliament.

A spokesperson for the Marxist Bloco de Esquerda (BE), Catarina Martins, left open the possibility of dialogue between themselves and the socialist, in order to prevent a right-wing minority government in Portugal.
