5600 Migrants Rescued in Italy

More than 5,600 people were rescued today by the Italian coast guard, a figure that shows the depth of the crisis of immigrants and refugees that affects Europe, the worst since the Second World War.

Up to 5,648 immigrants had been rescued tonight, although the number was expected to increase due to the fact that, according to the Italian Coast Guard, the maritime rescue services were still helping three boats on the high seas, news agencies are reporting. In addition, the dead bodies of nine people were located, seven of them in the same boat.
